Supporting you on your journey
You may be surprised by the emotional and physical impact of undertaking fertility treatment, and wonder how to cope with a mixture of emotions from joy and excitement to grief and disappointment.
Our fertility counselling team is available to support you throughout your treatment, and plays a vital role in our ART service.
Supportive counselling could include discussing topics such as:
- Preparing for fertility treatment, and making decisions about your treatment
- Impact on relationships
- Coping with unsuccessful treatment cycles and/or pregnancy losses
- Coping with emotions around other people’s pregnancies, births and children
- Talking about how your family, friends and colleagues behave or react
- Specific concerns related to donor treatment or parenting a donor conceived child
- Managing feelings of anxiety or loss of control
This comprehensive counselling service is available for current patients, those considering ART, and past patients who would like further support. Our fertility counsellors are social workers and psychologists who bring a diverse range of skills, expertise and experience to their work, helping you manage the stress and emotional impact of dealing with fertility issues.
The counsellor services Manager Marianne Tome offers 20 years' experience of working with individuals, couples and families during emotionally challenging times. Her previous roles have given her unique insights into the male experience of emotional trauma, including relationship and grief counselling.
